ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

REJECT A
TAX INCREASE
County officials are proposing a variety of tax increases that our families cannot afford.
Many of our neighbors are struggling to keep up as it is. Between the rising cost of groceries and housing, many families are already financially stretched. Additionally, the economic uncertainty and massive layoffs of the federal workforce are adding to an already tough burden for our community.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich has discussed two proposals that would raise taxes on our families. One would increase property taxes by 3.4%. The other would be a hike in the income tax retroactive to January 1. Not only do they want to raise your taxes, they want to tax money you've already made and budgeted.

RALLY AGAINST TAX INCREASES
HARDSHIP
FOR FAMILIES
With markets falling and a stagnant local economy, a tax increase will make it more difficult for families to find financial stability in our community.
BAD FOR
THE ECONOMY
The Council just raised property tax rates by 4.7% two years ago. Our focus should be on finding ways to increase housing affordability to help stimulate economic growth, especially with the massive layoffs of the federal workforce.
HURTS
SENIORS
Many of the proposed tax increases would be more than this year’s Social Security cost-of-living (COLA) increase. We cannot ask seniors to pay more taxes while their Social Security lags behind these hikes. Where are they supposed to find the money?
